Description

Bohey Dulang in Semporna, Sabah is one of the most scenic places to visit in Malaysia. Bohey Dulang is the second-largest island among the Tun Sakaran Marine Park islands.

The name Bohey Dulang comes from the Bajau language and basically means Bohey (water) and Dulang (pools). There is a story behind this unique island where these water pools can be found presumably on the eastern part. It was told that a Princess from the adjacent Bum Bum Island was hidden here to avoid marrying a Sultan. The princess uses these water pools as a water source. It is said that there were spirits hiding her and she was mysteriously vanished and believed to have turned into a fairy.

Getting to Bohey Dulang is easy - there is a number of island hoping tour operators at Semporna. Bohey Dulang is just 30 minutes boat ride from Semporna.

To get to the top (a must for all instagram photo clicks enthusiasts), it will be a 30 minute hike to the peak. You will definitely be rewarded with a spectacular view that words just can't describe.

Visitors should take note that hiking to Bohey Dulang peak will only be allowed if there is no rain on the day of the hike as well as the day before. This is because the rain could cause small streams crossing the trail and it can be dangerous for hikers. Tun Sakaran Marine Park will be closed to visitors during this period. However you can visit the jetty and the research centre.
